Middle School Volleyball: Dowell Faces Crosstown Rival Faubion

The Dowell Lionettes eighth grade volleyball teams kept gaining momentum Thursday evening before the fall
against the Faubion Lionettes.

The Blue “B” team keeps fighting for every point, but ended with the loss in three, 11-25, 25-15 and 21-
25. Outstanding players for these three games were Ciara Kase and Alex Coleman for offensive, Gabby
Symmank for defensive player and Mikayla Kuehne for the all around player of the game with consistent
serves and hits and defense.

The Gold “A” team struggled with their loss in two, 5-25 and 7-25. Overall defensive player was Jessie
Searles for mad skills at the net, and outstanding offensive player was Lily Isbell.

Closing out the evening, the White “C” team stayed in each game before the loss in two, 19-25 and
20-25. Outstanding all-around players for these matches were Peyton Ray for offensive player, Sydney
Miles for defensive player and Isabel Pate for overall player of the games.

Next set is against the Prosper Eagles on November 1st at Prosper, starting at 5 p.m. Dowell’s B/C team
tournament is Saturday, October 27th at Johnson Middle School.

In seventh-grade action, the Dowell Lionettes’ Blue team won in two games to the Faubion Lionettes, 25-20 and 26-24. Offensive player of the game was Brooke Brewer for aggressive serves. Defensive player was Courtney Sogga for hustle and several saves. Overall Player of the game was Madeline McDonald for effectiveness in the front and back rows.

The Gold team won in three, 29-27, 21-25 and 25-11. Offensive player of the game was Keely Andrews for assists and smart decision making. Defensive player is Faith Ann Myer for a block and kill on a sweep.  Overall player of the game was Kathryn Uribe for solid serving, passing and hitting.

The White team won 25-22 and 25-17. Offensive player of the game was Felixia Love-Reeves for kills at the net.  Defensive player of the game was Leah Pate for good passing and flexibility on the court. Overall player of the game was Taylor Castilla for strong hits, passes and serves.

The Lionettes’ next match will take place against Prosper at home on Nov. 1. The Blue team will take the court first at 5 p.m., followed by the Gold and White teams.
