Middle School Feature: Dowell Eighth-Graders Blank Johnson On Opening Day

The high school football season is well underway. Both McKinney High and North are on a bye week before the start of district play. Meanwhile, McKinney Boyd plays its first district game versus Lakeview Centennial on the road this Thursday night. Just when it looked like there wouldn’t be any football action in the city of McKinney this week, our five middle schools suited up for their 7th and 8th grade season openers on Monday night.

In a battle of long time rivals, the Dowell 8th grade football team traveled to McKinney North auxiliary field to take on the Johnson Tigers. Both sides fought hard but in the end, it was the Lions’ offensive firepower that won out as both the A and B teams for Dowell emerged victorious with final scores of 18-0 (B) and 30-0 (A).

In case you missed last night’s games, check out a video recap of all the action below, as well as an image gallery. And middle school fans, don’t forget to submit your stories and pictures this season.
