The brackets for the 2013 Mickey Mantle World Series have been released, with the first game scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at Al Alford Field.
The host team, DBAT-Nelson, will conclude play for the first day. The Dallas-based squad is scheduled to play the Michigan Bulls at 8 p.m. For the tournament’s complete bracket, please click the Story Downloads link below.
Tournament festivities begin Tuesday, July 30, with the “Welcome to McKinney” team dinner at Christ Fellowship from 7-9 p.m., and if games move forward as planned, the First Pitch Ceremony is slated to begin Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Following the invocation, a representative of the Mantle family will speak, and the colors will be presented by the Shriner’s Black Horse Patrol. Zane Williams, McKinney’s own award-winning country singer/songwriter and star of television’s Troubador, TX, will sing the National Anthem.
Tickets are $7 for a Game Pass; $10 for a Day Pass; and $30 for a Series Pass.
TAPS, McKinney’s new public transit provider, will be providing complimentary shuttle service between the field and Downtown McKinney.
This year marks the 18th consecutive year McKinney is hosting the Mickey Mantle World Series, which is the 16U national championship for the American Amateur Baseball Congress. This year’s field includes teams from Michigan, Puerto Rico, Georgia, Midland, Arizona, the South Plains and the North Atlantic.
