MHS, Boyd Softball Playoffs Begin Friday Night

The regular season came to a close last week for the McKinney High and McKinney Boyd softball programs. Now, after a week off, the Lionettes and Lady Broncos are each set to begin their opening round playoff series Friday night.

McKinney High wrapped up its District 10-4A run with four victories, including last Friday’s senior night win over Highland Park by a score of 18-2. The Lionettes landed the third playoff seed with a district record of 11-3. MHS will face District 9-4A’s second-place team Frisco Centennial. The Lady Titans have won 10 straight games since losing to eventual district champion Wakeland on March 17.

Game one will be played Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Prosper High School. Game two will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. and, if necessary, game three will follow at 3 p.m.

McKinney Boyd also secured the third-place seed in its district with a 6-3 mark. After losing to district champion Rowlett, the Lady Broncos won their next three district games as they outscored their opponents 36-1. Boyd wrapped up its regular season last Wednesday night at Garland. The result was a 9-2 victory for the Lady Owls.

The Lady Broncos will face Skyline Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Lovejoy High School. Game two will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. and, if necessary, game three will follow at 12 p.m.

Skyline has won 8 out of its last 9 games.

Lionettes

MHS vs. Centennial – 7:30 p.m. at Prosper.
