McKinney, Texas, May 18, 2015 – The eighth annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway, Allen, will be held Monday, May 25, at 1:00 pm. Hosted by VFW Post 2150; Turrentine, Jackson, Morrow; and Collin County Freedom Fighters.com, the keynote speaker will be US Air Force veteran Jim Skinner, followed by a message from special guest Congressman Sam Johnson. The ceremony honors all veterans who have since passed, with special recognition given to the eleven young men buried at Ridgeview who gave their lives in the service of our country during the wars in Vietnam and Iraq. The service will conclude with “Taps” played by Dale Littrell and a helicopter flyover by a 1969 UH-1H Huey that flew combat missions in Vietnam from 1969 to 1972, and is still flying with bullet holes from the war.

Keynote Address – JIM SKINNER, Served eight years in the US Air Force as a Security Police Dog Handler, Investigator and EST (SWAT) Team Leader. He then served 19 years as a police officer; Received a law degree in 2001 and has since worked as a civil lawyer, Assistant District Attorney and Special Prosecutor for the Collin County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. He is still very active in law enforcement as an attorney and holds the office of Judge Advocate for the Bill Bryan Post 110 of the American Legion located in McKinney.
Special Guest – US Congressman SAM JOHNSON, US Air Force – Fighter Plot, Retired at the rank of Colonel after 29 years of service, including 7 years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam; Served as director of the Air Force Top Gun School; Flew with the Air Force Thunderbirds precision flying team; Flew 62 combat missions over Korea and 25 in Vietnam. Awards include: Bronze Star with Valor, two Silver Stars, two Legions of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, two Purple Hearts, four Air Medals, and three Outstanding Unit Awards. Served in the Texas State House of Representatives for seven years, and for the past 24 years has represented the 3rd District of Texas in the United States House of Representatives in Washington DC.
