Following their landmark 100th victory, the Allen Americans partnered with the McKinney Education Foundation to host MISD Night and honor the MEF DREAM BUILDERS, a group of twelve benefactors underwriting MEF’s Advisor program.
The evening began with Randall Pogue of Pogue Engineering, Inc. – a longtime Dream Builder and MEF supporter – dropping the ceremonial puck and continued as the Allen Americans presented a check for $2,000 to the non-profit, while acknowledging the MEF Dream Builders on the arena’s video board. The exciting evening was topped off with the Allen Americans defeating the Wichita Thunder.
When describing the partnership with one of the hottest teams in minor league hockey, MEF Executive Director, Melanie Perkins commented, “Not only will their generous donation go a long way to support our mission, but their hospitality allows us to honor our Dream Builders in a fun and unique way. Everyone had such a great time!“
The MEF Advisor Program, which is unique to public schools, places advisors in each of the three McKinney high schools with the goal of dedicating themselves exclusively to assisting students obtain financial aid and scholarships for post secondary education. Since the program’s inception in 2005, the MEF Advisors have helped secure more than $44 million in financial assistance for MISD graduates.
“Our Dream Builders understand how vital this service is to the McKinney ISD students” says Perkins. “A growing student population means a larger need for scholarships and financial aid. Without our Dream Builders there would be no MEF Advisor Program.“
MEF thanks the Allen Americans and the following DREAM BUILDERS for their continued support: Darling Homes, Emerson Process Management Regulator Technologies; Encore Wire; Gay, McCall, Isaacks, Gordon & Roberts, P.C.; Heritage Eye Center; Independent Bank; McKinney Education Foundation Board of Trustees; McKinney Independent School District; Medical Center of McKinney; Minnis Family Endowment; Pogue Construction and Tate Financial Group/Darrell Tate and Bobby Mefford.
