The McKinney Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the appointment of Dee-dee Guerra as its Interim Director.
Guerra joined the MCVB staff in October 2007 as the Tourism Services Representative and received a promotion to Tourism Sales Manager in June 2008. As Tourism Sales Manager, a position in which she will still be functioning during this transition, she promotes the City of McKinney to associations, leisure tours, and corporate clients to encourage them to bring their event and meeting business to McKinney.
As Interim Director, Guerra will assume duties previously handled by Executive Director Diann Bayes who left the organization earlier this month. (Bayes accepted a position with the Texas Travel Industry Association in Austin.)
A McKinney resident since 2001, Guerra has a degree in education and ran her own business teaching Spanish in daycare centers before joining the CVB when her youngest child started school.
Guerra looks forward to serving the MCVB in the role of Interim Director and feels the organization will continue to grow in serving the community and its visitors.
“We’re so fortunate to have such a cohesive team at the MCVB. We all have different skill sets that complement each other so well. We know this community, enjoy strong working relationships with our tourism partners, and most importantly, we love what we do,” Guerra said. “We’re so lucky to have a Board of Directors, too, that is engaged in this community and invested in our organization. They are very supportive of the staff and of our mission to promote McKinney as the destination of choices to visitors.”
The MCVB Board and City of McKinney will officially begin the search for a new Executive Director in early June, expecting to fill the position by late Summer or early Fall 2012.
