McKinney’s Risdon Ties for 2nd at Texas State Open

By TSB Staff

Dustin Risdon, who moved to McKinney last fall from New Mexico, found himself in a three-way tie for the Bright Realty Texas State Open golf tournament title on Sunday at the Lakes at Castle Hills in Lewisville.

However, Nathan Tyler, a Phoenix resident who played college golf at Arizona, won the playoff hole. Risdon missed a 12-foot birdie putt on No. 1 in the playoff but Tyler made his from 4 feet. The other playoff participant was Jamie Eliott of Coppell, who missed a birdie try from 8 feet.

Risdon, 31, told The Dallas Morning News over the weekend that he moved to McKinney for “better weather and more quality courses,” and that he’s trying to revive his career after three Canadian Tour victories from 2007-10. He has also played on the Nationwide Tour.

Previous Texas State Open winners include such greats as Ben Crenshaw, Jeff Maggert and Lee Trevino.
