This December (2011), McKinney Youth Theatre presents the timeless tale “Annie, The Musical”. Annie is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin D. Roosevelt and finds a new family and home with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell.
ANNIE, with music by Charles Strouse and book by Thomas Meehan, will be directed by McKinney Youth Theatre’s Sara Akers. Choreography by Danny Miranda. The original Broadway production of ANNIE won seven 1977 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Book and Score. It ran for 2,377 performances, and has subsequently been produced all over the world. The original production is one of the top 20 longest running shows in Broadway history, and ANNIE continues to be one of the most successful musicals ever. Don’t miss this holiday classic!
