McKinney improved their record to 5-3 with recent wins over Colleyville and Plano East as the team began their District play. McKinney stands at 2-0 in the District as a result of the 9-8 win over Colleyville and a 14-7 victory over Plano East.
Saturday’s game at Colleyville was settled two minutes into the first overtime when Boyd Sophmore Midfield Johnny Santos made a steal in Colleyville territory and fed Boyd Sophomore Attackman Brody Kovacs who bounced in the winning goal. Boyd Freshman Midfielder Cameron Close lit up the Panthers with four goals of his own while Boyd Sophomore Goalie Connor Burke came up with two key saves in the overtime frame.
Tuesday night McKinney provided plenty of offense as the team jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead as Santos was owning the Plano East face off men to control posseession. Cameron Close was once again on fire as he found the cage 5 times in the contest. Boyd Junior Travis Hogman not only logged his first varsity goal in the game, but went on to score a hat trick of his own while McKinney High Junior Chris Hein added two goals during the game.
McKinney hosts Highland Park this Friday night with the JV game at 6:00pm and Varsity at 7:30pm. Both games will be played at McKinney High School – come check out the fun.
