Webb Elementary teacher Karen Morman was praised by President Barack Obama on Tuesday.
Obama told Morman, Texas’ educator of the year, and other teachers that visited the White House, that “to young people in classrooms around the country, nobody is more important than the men and women that we honor here today.”
Morman, a reading specialist, has received many honors in the past year, told The Dallas Morning News that it was the first time she has ever met a president.
“It took me back because he was just showing his appreciation for teachers,” Morman told The Morning News. “I just said I was genuinely pleased to meet you. We didn’t have a long conversation.”
