Guests and staff of the McKinney Senior Center were forced to evacuate the building on Tuesday afternoon after the McKinney Police Department received a bomb threat targeting the Senior Center. McKinney Police Spokesman Sergeant Chad Barker told TownSquareBuzz.com that McKinney Police officers reported to the Senior Center, searched the building and found nothing. “They cleared it without incident,” Barker said.
Barker said the police department received a bomb threat from an unregistered cell phone. After receiving the threat, the police contacted the Senior Center staff, who then asked the staff and residents to clear the building until it could be searched.
“They were proactive to make sure that nothing was out of place,” Barker said. Barker said the building was cleared around 2 p.m. and the residents and staff were then allowed to return to the building.
