The McKinney Police Department announced that it has suspended the burglary investigation that was reported to have occurred on April 27, 2011 at 1709 Surrey Lane. The investigation is being suspended due to the fact that the complainant has been inconsistent regarding his account of what occurred during the burglary, in addition to being uncooperative with McKinney Police Investigators regarding the investigation.

On April 27 at approximately 3:37am, MPD received a 911 call of a burglary in progress with shots fired at 1709 Surrey Lane. When Officers arrived on scene, they located the homeowner on the back patio with a single gunshot wound to the upper left torso. The homeowner reported to officers on scene that he had confronted three suspects inside his residence where a brief struggle ensued.
The homeowner further reported that during that struggle he was disarmed and shot with his own weapon, which was left at the scene. The homeowner was initially transported to MCM of McKinney and later transferred to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
