McKinney Police See Increase in Calls, But Make Just One Arrest on New Year’s Eve

policecarThe McKinney Police Department received an increased volume of calls on New Year’s Eve, but the night’s festivities resulted in only one arrest. McKinney Police Department Spokesman Sergeant Chad Barker told that the McKinney Police responded to a single-car accident at 1100 South Central Expressway and arrested Justin Edington. Edingtion, 25, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

The increase in calls is “typical for a New Year’s Eve night,” Barker said. Barker also said the department received several calls for fireworks violations and “some” shots fired calls. Barker said that some of the shots fired calls were actually fireworks and that no arrests regarding these call types.
