Sandy Alcocer, a 24-year-old female, was located Tuesday night with 10-month-old Isabella Reyes, hours after an Amber Alert was issued for Isabella, attempting to cross the border into Mexico.
The McKinney Police Department said a collaborative effort between its Special Victim’s Unit and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents in Laredo contributed greatly to locating Isabella. Isabella is now safe and in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Alcocer (pictured) was arrested on a McKinney burglary warrant unrelated to this incident. The bond is set at $500,000 and she will be extradited to Collin County. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, MPD was dispatched to 713 S. Railroad Street in reference to a missing child. The Amber Alert was issued shortly thereafter and TSB reported the incident at that time. Alcocer, the child’s biological mother who does not have custody, was reported to be traveling with an unknown Hispanic male and the toddler in a 2003 white Dodge Dakota and have left McKinney earlier that morning.
