McKinney Offers Environmental Education: Green Seminars in June

Summer is here!  Our calendar is packed with a variety of Green Seminars, everything from irrigation efficiency, to rainwater harvesting, container gardening. firewise landscaping, composting and even planning ahead for a fall vegetable garden!

Caryn Walz and Patty Sipe of the Heads Up Sprinkler Company will speak on irrigation efficiency. Both are outdoor water conservation experts and EPA Water Sense Partners.  Come learn how to conserve water with your current sprinkler system, learn about the latest irrigation technology including converting to drip and improve your overall sprinkler system efficiency and enhance your landscape.

Firewise Landscaping

Mid-summer is the best time to prepare and plan a fall vegetable garden. Discover which warm season vegetables can be replanted now and which vegetables thrive in our mild winter temperatures. Learn the basics of soil preparation, how to plant seeds and transplants. Learn the varieties recommended for this area and the ideal times for planting.  Class taught by Erin Hoffer, Collin County Master Gardener.
