McKinney North Can’t Slow Down Frisco Centennial During 43-27 Loss

McKinney North fell behind 26-7 at halftime and couldn’t ever recover Friday night on the road against Frisco Centennial. As a result, the Bulldogs lost 43-27 and fell to 1-2 on the football season.

Ronald Jones ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns for North, while quarterback Ben Dutze passed for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

Jones’ 18-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was North’s lone points in the first half. His 13-yard TD run in the third quarter helped cut the deficit to 26-14. Dutze connected with KJ Bualicex in the fourth quarter to cut Centennial’s lead to 36-20 but a two-point conversion pass failed. Finally, Dutze found Gabe Constantine on a 10-yard TD pass to provide the final score of the game.

Centennial’s offense gained 526 yards as the Titans improved to 2-1 on the season. Centennial quarterback Kelly Cordova was on target, completing 22 of 29 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, Cordova ran for three touchdowns and 70 more yards. Kamari Burnett ran for 137 yards and a touchdown.

North has a bye week coming up and will return to host Sherman on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Ron Poe Stadium.
