Former McKinney High athletics standout Matt Lipka had to battle past a devastating hamstring injury that threatened to end his athletic career. But he has recovered from that and is impressing his Major League Baseball club, the Atlanta Braves, as spring training continues for them at the Walt Disney World Complex in Orlando, Fla.
Lipka was a star baseball and football player for the Lions. He was the Braves’ first selection in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft and chose to go the professional baseball route. He hasn’t yet risen above Class A in the minor leagues, however his future is looking bright.
