McKinney Man to Serve 74 Years for Sexually Assaulting a Child

By Pegasus News

Peter Ellington, of McKinney, was sentenced to 54 years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child and 20 years for indecency with a child.

State District Judge Scott J. Becker stacked the sentences late last week, thus requiring the 55-year-old Ellington to serve consecutive sentences.

Ellington sexually assaulted his 6-year-old step-granddaughter during the summer of 2008. The child told her mother about the sexual abuse in 2009, and charges were filed soon thereafter. Testimony presented at Thursday’s sentencing hearing established Ellington had committed domestic violence against two separate girlfriends in the 1990s and had sexually assaulted one of those women after the relationship ended, although he was punished for a lesser charge.

Ellington, a registered nurse, had worked in numerous hospitals in North Texas but stopped nursing in February 2010 to run a carpet cleaning business he started in 2008.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorney Claire Miranda prosecuted the case. Assisting in the prosecution were District Attorney Investigator Marletta Scribner and legal secretaries Kathy Schroeder and Sandy Schilling.
