The McKinney Kiwanis Club held their annual BBQ Dinner and Silent Auction on October 28th at the First Christian Church of McKinney. Over 500 local residents and their families attended the dinner and had a great time while supporting local charities. Everyone was treated to a special treat with Nothing Bundt Cakes providing dessert. Joe Sparling, Kiwanis Club President, stated that it was rewarding to have so many families come out to have fun and fellowship while supporting local charities.
Everyone was encouraged to have some fun and wear his or her Halloween costume. There was a costume contest for the kids. Erica Culbertson won first place, all other contestants won the 2nd place prize.
During the evening, Glynn Wingard and Glenn Coleman promoted the over 100 silent auction items that had been donated by local merchants. Kiwanians organized and presented the auction items in a manner to sell each and every one. The auction items included: decorator items, gift cards, movie tickets and auto services. Many items were hotly contested and made for a lot of fun.
The McKinney Kiwanis Club would like to thank the many local residence and merchants that help this event be a great success every year. 100% of the proceeds from the fund raising dinner and auction will go into the clubs service fund that supports local charities and their activities.
The McKinney Kiwanis Club will hold another fundraising event of this nature in February 2012 with their annual Pancake Breakfast. The date for this event will be announced at a later time.
