Superintendent Dr. J.D. Kennedy presents the Faubion Middle School Orchestra to the assembled NTAASB guests.
The North Texas Area Association of School Boards (NTAASB) met in McKinney at the Lawson Early Childhood Center on Wednesday, November 10. McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. J.D. Kennedy and members of the McKinney ISD School Board hosted State Board of Education representatives and school board members from districts across north Texas.
The evening began with dinner and an exceptional performance by the Faubion Middle School Orchestra. Then, Dr. Kennedy introduced Lawson Early Childhood Center Principal Paige Hanks who spoke briefly and presented a moving video about the school.
“It was great to have the opportunity to showcase the Lawson Center and the great work they are doing there,” said Dr. Kennedy.
The Lawson Early Childhood Center is home to McKinney ISD’s Early Head Start, Head Start, Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), and Pre-Kindergarten programs. Following Hanks’ presentation, three representatives from the State Board of Education rounded out the evening with a panel discussion on current issues in Texas education.
