Officer John Libby was involved in an off-duty motorcycle accident and lost his life on May 27. The accident occurred on Custer Road in Frisco just south of Westridge Road when a SUV pulled out in front of him. He was rushed to the Baylor McKinney Hospital and was pronounced dead.
On Sunday, Sept. 1, from Noon-4 p.m., McKinney Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #107 will be hosting a fundraiser at the McKinney Performing Arts Center to benefit the John Libby Memorial Fund. The lodge will be raffling off two sets of tickets for the Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants opening game to be played Sept. 8. Join us for a cookout, a silent auction including a balloon ride for two, skydiving, and golfing and activities for kids.
Raffle tickets are available for purchase at Walls of Clay, located at 211 N. Kentucky St., or by contacting Daniel Malenfant, President, McKinney FOP at email@example.com. Proceeds from the raffle and the auction will be donated to the John Libby Memorial Fund through Wells Fargo bank.
Officer Libby became a member of the McKinney Police Department on Oct. 8, 2007, and was a founding member of FOP Lodge #107. He was assigned to the patrol division with the department and was a hardworking and dedicated member of the department. He had also recently completed the National School Resource Officer course and was due to be assigned to the McKinney ISD at the beginning of the school year. John was a well-liked officer who had the ability to crack a joke and make people laugh no matter how down and out they were feeling.
The McKinney FOP looks forward to seeing the citizens of McKinney at this event!
