McKinney FFA Wins Supreme Grand Champion Swine at Fort Worth Livestock Show

Submitted by Justin Lacy, MISD

The 2013 Fort Worth Junior Livestock Show was held January 24-28. Many of our FFA members competed and exhibited their swine show projects. More than 1,200 pigs where exhibited by FFA members from Texas. Below are the McKinney FFA Swine Team Results:

Paxton Knies (below right) an FFA member from McKinney High School exhibited the Breed Champion Duroc Gilt that went on to be crowned the Supreme Champion Overall.

Ashlee Daniels (below left), an FFA member from McKinney High School exhibited the Reserve Champion Chester White Boar. This is one of the toughest pig shows in the state. Ashlee Daniels also exhibited a class champion Shorthorn Beef Heifer that was also awarded a Reserve Division Champion in the Shorthorn breed. She was in the top 6 of all Shorthorn heifers exhibited at the show.

Many other students attended and did well also. Many of our McKinney ISD FFA students were in the top 10
