The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced that the McKinney Chamber of Commerce has been accredited with four stars for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community. This is an impressive accomplishment and one of the highest forms of recognition that a chamber can achieve.
Of the 6,936 chambers of commerce in the United States, 221 hold the status of Accredited Chamber of Commerce, 19 of which are in Texas. This elite group represents the top 3% of all chambers in the United States. Accreditation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a prestigious honor that distinguishes the high quality, expertise, and strong leadership displayed by accredited state and local chambers of commerce.

The U.S. Chamber gave special recognition to the McKinney Chamber of Commerce for its board orientation program and the Chamber received perfect scores on the application in the areas of Governance, Technology and Facilities.

Accreditation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the only program of its kind that defines excellence in chamber planning and recognizes chambers for outstanding contributions toward positive change in their communities. The purpose of the U.S. Chamber’s Accreditation Program is to facilitate continuing excellence in the chamber industry and to foster a pro-business environment across America.
Accreditation recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in their operations and programs, including areas of governance, finance, government affairs, technology and facilities. This extensive self-review takes 6-12 months to complete. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of the U.S. Chaamber board members and chamber executives from across the country
