McKinney Boyd’s Minor Wins State Wrestling Championship in 106-Pound Class; North’s Quarterman Fifth in 145

McKinney celebrated a new state champion and a top-five state finisher on Saturday afternoon at the UIL State Wrestling Championships.

McKinney Boyd’s Alex Minor defeated Allen’s Howard Smith 8-7 in the 106-pound weight class 5A state championship final on Saturday afternoon in Austin, Tx.

In Class 4A, McKinney North’s Travis Quarterman finished fifth in the 145-pound weight class.

Overall, Allen won its fourth consecutive state team title, totaling 251.5 points and winning six gold medals.
