Alison McGee, a 2011 of graduate of McKinney Boyd High School, was the winner of a beautiful blue Nissan Versa at the 2011 Project Graduation, which was held at Myers Park Event Center. Beginning Friday night, June 3, following all MISD graduation ceremonies, the event wrapped up at 6 a.m.on Saturday, June 4. This is the fifth year Nissan of McKinney has donated a car to be raffled-off as the Project Graduation grand prize.
At about 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, after spending the night playing casino games, bingo, rock climbing and a variety of inflatable games, almost 1400 MISD 2011 graduates and their guests clustered to hear the winning names drawn for the many raffle items. High-ticket items like bicycles, printers, laptops, flat screen televisions and iPods, as well as $100 and $500 cash prizes, were precursers to the Nissan car giveaway.
McGee had to wait a little longer than usual, however. Before her name was called, three other MISD graduate’s names were drawn. Too bad for them – the rules of the evening clearly stated that if students left the party, they forfeited any prizes they would have won. Like the saying goes… “You Must Be Present To Win”.
McGee, the lucky winner, was very happy that she was still at the party at 6 a.m.!
