The time for talk is over…or maybe it’s just beginning.
Last year, I made a video to recap of the Boyd Broncos 2010 district title win and playoff run. The video has been posted on my YouTube channel since May and before this week it had just one comment. Now it has three comments. The first new comment was posted three days ago by the user TheCorrosiveGamers, who said the following.
‘Get ready for garland highschool, cuz we comin hard.’
The Owls are a tradition-rich program with very proud and loyal fans so it didn’t surprise me that one of them would find a Boyd video to comment on just a few days away from the big district showdown.
What did surprise me was the response that comment received the following day from user CletusTheGinger. I’m not sure if Cletus is a Boyd fan or an Internet troll looking for a fight in a YouTube comment section. Either way, he followed up the Owls fan’s comments by saying, ”Shut the (expletive) up’.
If tonight’s game really is ‘for all the marbles’ like Jarell Humphrey said then trash talk and cheap shots could get ugly at Ron Poe Stadium. I remember seeing plenty of late hits after the whistle between the Broncos and McKinney North and that was just a season opener. The fate of the District 10-5A title hangs in the balance tonight and Broncos and the Owls are hungry to prove that they’re the best the district has to offer.
In other words, protect yourself at all times.

Drake’s Take On Garland
“Garland is Garland. They’re very fast. That’s one of the things you notice right away. You have to be able to match that. They’re a good football team and a tradition-rich football program. Last year when we took the field, we didn’t know what to expect. Hopefully this year, our kids will come in with more confidence than they did a year ago.”
The Broncos Will Win If…
they play well in the clutch. This game will most likely be decided in the final minutes of regulation so it’s important that the Broncos stay focused on the game and keep their emotions in check.
The Owls Will Win If…
their defense can contain and frustrate sophomore QB Curtis Ladd. In Boyd’s district opener versus Lakeview Centennial, Ladd was outstanding with 13-of-20 completed passes for 214 yards and four touchdowns to go with 41 rushing yards.
I picked Boyd to win this game before the start of the season and I’m going to stick with my prediction. This game will either end in a close win for Boyd or a two-score win for Garland. I’m going to go with the Broncos in a nail-biter.
McKinney Boyd 28, Garland 27
