McKinney 3-year-old Jackson Houser is battling cancer, but he’s got an entire football team helping him fight.
Head coach Don Drake’s McKinney Boyd Broncos have visited Jackson at his home, playing ball with him in the backyard and supporting him, making him smile and giving him some heroes to look up to. They also presented a check to his parents.
CBS 11 recently did a story on their visit, which you an see by clicking here. The station spoke to his mom, Lindsey Houser, as well, about her son’s fight with T-cell leukemia.
Important to note, this is becoming a commendable trend for Drake and his team. Last year, the team held a “purple out” for its game against Allen to support studenet manager Willie Wilson. CBS 11’s report states that, when Wilson died the day before the game, that’s when Boyd decided to help others in town battling cancer.
And two weeks ago, Drake’s team presented a check to Slaughter Elementary School guidance counselor Tracy Newton, who is also battling cancer.
