You could say it’s Showdown Saturday at McKinney Boyd’s Bronco Field today.

McKinney Boyd will play Lake Highlands there at 2 p.m. in a 5A Bi-District Baseball Playoff Game. It’s Game 3, winner takes all.

McKinney High will play Carrollton Creekview there at 7:30 p.m. in a 4A Bi-District Baseball Playoff Game. It’s also Game 3 of their series, winner takes all.

Lake Highlands defeated Boyd 9-1 on Friday night to even their series at 1-1. Bronco starting pitcher Blake Douglas went 4 innings giving up 5 runs and 5 hits while striking out three.  Shane Sharkey came in at top of 5 for 1 inning, followed by Kyle Zimmerman who finished the game.

Boyd’s solo run was scored by Evan Williams who doubled in the 4th and was brought in on a Blake Douglas sac fly.

Lake Highland’s winning pitcher, Hudson Taylor, pitched a complete game giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Taylor, a senior, struck out three.

McKinney High beat Lake Highlands 7-2 at MHS on Friday to even their series 1-1 and force a deciding game 3.

Anthony Hermelyn hit a home run and a double for the Lions, while Preston Hornbeck hit two doubles and a triple. Hobie Harris doubled for MHS.

Harris was also the winning pitcher, while Lake Highlands hurler Adam Guay took the loss.
