Come join the McKinney Area Newcomers Club. It’s a great way to get involved in McKinney and the surrounding area. Through our club, you’ll meet a large network of friends. Our monthly coffee meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 5871 Virginia Parkway in McKinney. We serve refreshments and socialize at 9:30 a.m. Then at 10, we present an interesting program which changes from month to month. For example, in November we are welcoming Alex Nemeth to speak about Friends Place and Alzheimer’s disease. In December we will be entertained by the McKinney Community Flute Choir. At the end of the programs, we draw for several door prizes donated from the local community businesses.
In addition, we offer many social activities and a variety of outings every month. For instance, in November we are planning to go to Local Yocal in downtown McKinney where we will learn all about meat, what cuts are what, where they come from and what to look for and look out for, etc. Then to top off the great demonstration, all attendees will get to savor a barbeque of all the meats that the owner has described during the event. We also have many interest groups, i.e., Bunco, Dining Out, Mah Jongg, Sit n Stitch, Card games, Card Crafting, Bowling, Book Club, Empty Nesters, International Group, Movie and a Meal, Great Decisions, and Golf, just to name a few.
McKinney Area Newcomers Club is a place where new friendships are forged and where there is always a helping hand when you need it. All in all, it’s a great organization where you will experience the best places to eat, shop and visit, plus get helpful advice regarding upcoming community events, referrals for plumbers, handy-man work, landscaping, etc. We are here for you and are always looking forward to welcoming new people every month. Come visit and check us out.
