Deputy City Manager Jose Madrigal announced the hiring of Chris Browning as the Director of Water Utilities and Infrastructure following a national search. Browning will start Monday, March 31.
Browning most recently served as the President of Advanced Utility Consulting Services, Inc., in Canton, Georgia, and Vice President of McKim & Creed in Atlanta. Both are consulting firms specializing in water/wastewater utility infrastructure and resources. Prior to those roles, he served as the Assistant Director of Public Works for Fulton County Government, the largest county in Georgia that includes the City of Atlanta.
“I am thrilled to be selected as the Director of Water Utilities and Infrastructure and to serve as a member of such a well-respected organization. I look forward to serving the citizens of McKinney as they prepare to meet the challenges of a fast-pace, high growth community,” said Browning.
The Water Utilities and Infrastructure Department is the new name for the department formerly called Public Works, and it more accurately portrays the specific roles of this department. Paul Sparkman, formerly Streets Superintendent, has been promoted to the new position of Assistant Director of Water Utilities and Infrastructure. Sparkman has worked for the City of McKinney for 25 years.
“Both Chris and Paul have decades of experience leading teams that perform vital work that keeps the city running. I am excited about this new leadership team and the direction of the department that plays such an important role serving our citizens,” said Madrigal.
“I am excited to have this opportunity and look forward to being a part of the successful team within the organization,” said Sparkman.
In other City of McKinney organizational news, Lisa Littrell has been named Purchasing Manager overseeing the city Purchasing Department. Littrell has worked in the McKinney Purchasing Department for 13 years.
