The McKinney Christian Lady Mustangs basketball team jumped on the North Dallas Adventist Academy Lady Sentinels early and often in a 76-11 drubbing at the Bob Knight Fieldhouse Monday night. MCA raised its record to 4-2.
The Mustangs used a trapping zone defense to force the young Sentinels to numerous turnovers and the Mustangs capitalized with many fast break baskets in route to the win.
Hannah Wilks once again led the Mustang in scoring, rebounding and steals with 24, 11 and six, respectively. However, several of the Mustangs had hot hands as well. Three other Mustangs scored in double figures as MCA raced out to a 16-2 lead after one and a 41-4 halftime advantage. Makenna Schulte scored 14 while senior captain Sarah Grubbs and Lily Thompson each had 12.
The Mustangs relaxed the pressure in the third period, but not the scoring with 19 in the period on the strength of Kayee Zanetell’s second three-pointer on the night and Wilks’ continual assault on the basket. It was 60-8 after 3. The Mustang reserves played liberally in this one from the second quarter throughout. Anna Keebler contributed 6 points off the bench and Mckenna Hubert , Katie Pawlish and Lexi Vance also saw significant floor time.
