The Collin County Master Gardeners Association will be conducting two Girl Scout workshops at Myers Park and Event Center in McKinney on Saturday, Oct. 26. Local Girl Scouts will have an opportunity to learn valuable lessons from the garden and earn badges.
The Brownie Badge Workshop will take place from 8:45 a.m. – 11 a.m. Attendees will meet with an Entomologist and learn the 3 P’s (poopers, pollinators and pests), learn about raising bees from a Certified Bee Keeper, learn the difference between a butterfly and a moth from a Butterfly Specialist, and participate in a bug scavenger hunt. Cost per girl is $5 and includes the Bug Badge.
The Daisy Petal Workshop will take place from 12:15 p.m.-2 p.m. Attendees will hear Clover’s story and sample honey yogurt dip with apples, learn about raising bees from a Certified Bee Keeper, make a special craft, and tour a garden in search of flowers that honey bees love. Cost per girl is $5 and includes a Fun Patch.
Both classes will be held rain or shine at Myers Park and Event Center in The Landing building, 7117 County Road 166, McKinney, TX 75071. Registration is limited.
