Daniel P. Lager, 25, has died as the result of a collision between the car he was driving and a dump truck on Thursday morning, Texas DPS Public Information Officer Lonny Haschel told TownSquareBuzz.com on Friday. Lager, a Princeton resident, collided with the rear-end of a dump truck, driven by Jose T. Giron, 48, of Plano, on Thursday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m.
The accident took place in the 3200 block of Highway 380, roughly two-tenths of a mile east of County Road 330. Lager was driving a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant and traveling west on Highway 380, in the right-hand lane.
“Lager transported via ground ambulance to Medical Center of McKinney, where he later died from his injuries,” Haschel said.
Giron was not injured in the crash.
Haschel said the crash was currently under investigation and the cause of the collision was currently unknown. Witnesses on the scene said that Lager may have been texting while driving, but Haschel said that the DPS is not currently able to confirm this. Haschel said that investigators will interview witnesses from the scene and “may look into cell phone records if it looks like that may have contributed to the crash.”
