Local Preschool To Celebrate Earth Hour

Local Preschool To Celebrate Earth Hour

The Goddard School, a local preschool, will celebrate Earth Hour, March 26th at 9 a.m., by turning off its electricity for an hour and teaching its students the importance of protecting the environment.

Since its inception 3 years ago, Earth Hour has become a global phenomenon with over 1 billion people in 4,100 cities, 87 countries and 7 continents participating by turning off their electricity for an hour.

Hosting the event in McKinney is The Goddard School, the largest preschool franchise in the nation with over 40,000 children in its network. In preparation for Earth Hour, Goddard Schools will integrate the environment into a number of engaging learning activities. Classes will build musical instruments out of recycled materials and hold newspaper fashion shows using costumes that students create from old newspapers, etc. and the children will “green” their communities by planting trees and picking up trash around school grounds.
