Protesters were on hand Friday in response to the opening of a local business called Puppies Direct, which sells and breeds a variety of dogs. Part of their message is that the Collin County Animal Shelter is in code red and needs adoptive families for its animals. “We want to make people aware of the fact that the shelters are full,” says Lisa Clark. “There’s lots of dogs that will be dead by tomorrow if someone doesn’t adopt.”
TSB also spoke to the owners of Puppies Direct but they asked not to be quoted in this story. Puppies Direct, which opened a week ago, is located Highway 380 in the group of shops next to Sicily’s. The business took its Facebook page down Friday.
Meanwhile, adoptions from the Collin County Animal Shelter located at 4750 Community Boulevard are currently $25 for all kittens, dogs, cats and puppies; spay/neuter, vaccinations and microchip are included.
