Lions Continue Slide, Fall to Plano East 35-23 for Third Straight Loss

The McKinney High Lions mid-season slide continued Friday night at Murphy Kimbrough Stadium, falling to Plano East 35-23 to fall to 3-4 and remain winless in 10-5A action.

The Lions were battling East nose-to-nose Friday night, trailing the Panthers 21-17 at the half, but scored just six points while East was able to tally 14.¬†McKinney’s defense was able to keep East’s offense at bay, holding East to 315 total yards – 183 rushing and 132 passing.

Brian Sutter had a quality game under center for MHS, throwing for 185 yards on 19 completions and a touchdown. Tommy Candela and Antonio Oliver combined to rush for 173 yards and one touchdown.

The Lions will look to turn its season around next week when they host Plano West (4-3, 0-2) Thursday night at Ron Poe Stadium at 7 p.m.
