Let the Games Begin: Stuart J Meets Trim You Wellness

By Stuart J. Pearlman, TSB Staff

A few weeks ago I heard that Trim You Wellness (TYW) was going to start advertising on TownSquareBuzz. While I am always happy to hear about new support for the number one online news and information source in McKinney, I was particularly taken by the proposition TYW promotes.

You see, I was told that at TYW you can go in, lie down for 45 minutes every week and simply lose “tons” of weight.  You can even sleep while going through the procedure. Surely this must be kismet because I just happen to love to nap and, through a strange twist of fate, have a “ton” of weight to lose!

Which brings me to this column.

For those of you who know me as your guide through “Stuart J’s Lens”, we shall optimistically refer this series as, “Stuart J’s Loss”! Over the next month or so I will document my experience at TYW and hopefully be closer to half the man I am today when it is all over.

My First Visit

I sat down with Valerie Wordlan at TYW and she explained the program.

We talked about goals and my diet. (Needless to say, there is no “miracle” involved here, so just like any new weight-loss program you have to be mindful of what you are eating.  Otherwise we could eat all the pizza we want we no repercussions.) A suggestion of exercise also made its way into the conversation!

As the website suggests, “There is NO MAGIC BULLET for losing weight. However, we have created our own proven Infrared Body Wrap system to help you “achieve” your goals to lose inches and weight, safely, easily, fast and definitely affordably!”

I am told the infrared heat waves penetrate up to three inches below skin level, increasing blood flow and metabolism, allowing my body to burn fat and 900 to 1400 calories.

Next my vital statistics were recorded for posterity and Valerie explained the TYW process.  For the record, here are my starting stats. (Warning, this ain’t pretty!)

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 265.8 lbs.

Body Fat: 34.4% – Normal range should be 11.0-21.9

Visceral Fat Level: 11 – Normal range <9

   (Fat surrounding internal organs)

BMI: 36.1 – Normal range should be 18.5

   (Body Mass Index)

Skeletal Muscle: 29.1% – Normal range should be 33.1-39.1

Beginning Measurements

Chest: 49.0”

Lower Waist: 49.0”

Hips: 49.0”

Basically, after Valerie smeared “Ben Gay smelling” gel all over my stomach and wrapped me in cellophane I adorned a body suit and then was placed in a heated “cocoon” on top of a heated table (see photo). To say the least, the heat was on… for the next 45 minutes.

As advertised, I then closed my eyes and took a nap! And sweat!!

When the procedure was complete, I began replenishing the fluids with a bottle of water and Valerie took me through an information packet that explained the measurement results. I made appointments for treatments over the next four weeks and was done for the day.

By the end of the day I had already received an email from Valerie reminding me of pre procedure preparation and post procedure maintenance.

Now the fun begins.  To be successful though I know I have to my part!

Next week we’ll see how I did. With great anticipation I predict the next column will be called, “And They’re Off….”

Until then.

Trim You Wellness Spa offers an amazing variety of beauty and wellness treatments; we’ve expanded the body wrap & eyelash studios and added an airbrush tanning room. In addition, we also added a fitness studio teaching Reformer Pilates, Zumba and Yoga!
