One of the best (and most fun!) ways to learn about the history of a community is to learn the legends that have existed for decades (even centuries). You can do that in McKinney on consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, from 6-10 p.m.
Once again, the Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk will deliver the legends of McKinney through storytellers in downtown McKinney and at Chestnut Square. You’ll learn about the history of McKinney AND the legends of ghostly hauntings that parallel that history.
New in 2011, the Legends of McKinney Ghost Walk will offer an optional Haunted Trolley Ride through Pecan Grove Cemetery! Space is limited and reservations are required. The trolley will leave from the corner of Chestnut and Anthony Streets every hour on the hour from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Pecan Grove Cemetery, situated on property granted by the Republic of Texas in 1845, closes at dusk. Few have ventured past the wrought iron gates at night to explore its past. On the Haunted Trolley Tour of Pecan Grove, you’ll venture onto the grounds in the safety of the trolley with the guidance of your docent. Listen closely for the voices of the past!
