“Be Inspired, Be Inspiring!” is the theme for the third Star Executive Summit featuring keynote speaker former First Lady Laura Bush on May 24 at the Embassy Suites Frisco Conference Center. This fundraising event brings together philanthropists, business executives, leaders and individuals in support of the mission of Star to raise the level of philanthropy in our community to positively impact children’s lives.
While Mrs. Bush is best known as a former First Lady and the wife of President, George W. Bush, her first career in teaching and library science was motivated by her lifelong love of children and commitment to education. Mrs. Bush will describe her work as First Lady and the experiences that shaped the United States’ first decade of the 21st century.
The past two summits have brought Newt Gingrich and Lee & Bob Woodruff to the area to share their inspiring stories of service. Leading the efforts are local business women and philanthropists, co-chairs, Cheryl Massey of Michael W. Massey & Associates and Sandy Golgart of Bentley Premier Homes. Introducing Mrs. Bush is The Honorable Senator Florence Shapiro, District 8 of Plano and Long-time friend of the First Lady. The Star Summit emcee and moderator is Shelley Slater, WFAA-TV news team and a Plano native.

Proceeds from this event will go to Star Children’s Charity designated beneficiary, City House who provides emergency shelter and transitional residential services to children and young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness.

Jewelry will sponsor a chance drawing to win a new IPAD 3; each guest that purchases a signature custom designed Star bracelet with be entered for a chance to win the iPad. A silent auction will accompany the event to further raise funds for City House. In addition, a luxury silent auction will feature a variety of must-have items.
