The McKinney Boyd Varsity volleyball team takes a 24-5 record into action Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Flower Mound High School. The Lady Broncs also begin district play on Friday at Rowlett High School. Varsity matches will start at 5:30 every Friday to allow fans to go to the volleyball match and then attend the football game.
Boyd took a 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-20) win over Allen High School on Friday night. Setters Brantllee Reid and Brittany Phelan led the quick offense to overpower the Lady Eagles with 16 and 15 assists, respectively.
Junior Megan Mollett continued her impressive performance as of late notching 16 kills while senior Drew Darling added 11 kills and junior Kelly Koop contributed eight kills of her own. Mollett and Darling had a double-double on the night with 14 digs apiece.
McKinney Boyd’s libero, junior Kaley Seaber, had 19 digs to guide the backcourt defense. Seaber’s strong serve forced Allen to take four timeouts during the match. The libero showed her varsity experience by staying poised and serving aggressively after each timeout.
