They did it again! Coach Eddie McMillan’s JV bulldogs once again beat Wylie East in their last at bat to get back into the win column. It is the third straight last-inning win over the Raiders and the JV squad has swept the 2012 series against the Raiders. After struggling over the last four games and scoring a total of six runs in that streak but, Coach McMillan provided a little “extra coaching” and it was just what they needed. The bats showed up in a big way.
The game started with a tough inning defensively for the Dawgs leaving them down 4-0. But, after settling down in the second, the Dawgs scored twice on superb hitting by Julian Pope and Josh Teese. That set the tone and the hits kept coming.
In the bottom half of the fourth, three straight singles by Travis Scalf, Ben Dutze, and Gabe Constantine added three. Then, in the fifth, Chandler George, Logan Teel, and Julian Pope pounded out singles to give North the lead, 7-6.
In the bottom of the sixth, Josh Teese and Sidney Wiggins singled to set up first and third with no outs. Then, Coach McMillan called for Wiggins to steal and, Teese scored the winning run on the throw.
The leaders for the bulldogs were Braden Stuart who pitched 2 1/3 strong innings in relief, Josh Teese who was 2 for 2 at the plate, and Travis Scalf who drove in two runs. The JV Bulldogs are now 8-5 on the year. Next up for the MNHS Bulldogs is a trip to Richardson JJ Pearce.
