In the 1980’s JoEllen Zabel entered the world of banking and finance in McKinney. The task was daunting, given the then economic downturn in Texas. But she drew from her early experiences and approached her customers with respect and patience. This practice continues today at Wells Fargo Advisors as Zabel deals with many of the same customers at a different phase in their lives.
At about the same time, Zabel was invited to join the McKinney Lions Club (today the McKinney Noon Lions Club) and wasn’t quite sure what she was getting into.
“These people were crazy,” she said.
Even so, for the past 20 years Zabel has led the Lions in one of their most important and infamous fund-raisers, the Chili Supper. In fact the inner circles refer to her as the “reigning Chili Supper Queen.” Click on the movie to learn more.
