McKinney, Texas – McKinney ISD has named Jimmy Bowser the new principal of Faubion Middle School. Bowser, a veteran educator who has served as associate principal of McKinney High School for the past three years, will assume his duties next week.
District officials began the search for a new principal after longtime Faubion Principal Patsy Turner announced her plan to retire after 35 years in education.
McKinney ISD Superintendent Dr. Rick McDaniel praised the impact of Turner’s work over the past six years at Faubion. “We have watched Faubion Middle School become one of the higher performing middle schools in our district under her leadership,” he said. “She will be sorely missed as a principal, and we wish her the best.”
McDaniel said that he is pleased with Bowser as the choice for Turner’s successor. “He has a proven track record as an effective leader within our district,” McDaniel said. “As the associate principal of McKinney High School, he played a large part in the continuing success of that campus, and his hard work has earned this opportunity. We are confident in Mr. Bowser’s ability to lead and build positive relationships with the faculty, staff, students and parents of Faubion Middle School.”
Bowser began his career in education 17 years ago as a classroom teacher, serving in Mesquite ISD and then Lewisville ISD before moving into administration and serving as an assistant principal in several local districts, including Frisco ISD from 2006–2012. During that time, he served as an interim principal for Frisco Wakeland High School and as principal for the Frisco ISD Summer School program during the summer of 2012. McKinney ISD hired Bowser later that summer to serve as associate principal of McKinney High School.
In 2014, Bowser played an integral role in establishing a Marine Corps JROTC unit at MHS, a program unique among McKinney ISD high schools.
“I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Faubion family,” said Bowser. “During my time at MHS, I had the opportunity to work with a wonderful staff of passionate educators who care deeply about their craft, and over the past three years we received numerous accolades regarding academic performance and carved a pathway for continued success. Now, I look forward to working with the staff, students and community of Faubion. Together, we will accomplish some great things.”
Bowser holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northwestern State University in Louisiana, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University—Commerce and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of North Texas.
