It’s Election Day: Get Out And Vote!

City council, school board, MISD bond vote … You know the issues, let your voice be heard.

On Saturday, McKinney voters will choose City Council representatives for one At Large seat and for District 2 during the general election. Election Day is Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

So far, seven percent of registered voters in McKinney ISD and 6.2 percent of registered voters in the City of McKinney have cast their votes during early voting, according to Collin County Elections. These early votes totals are:

•MISD overall: 4,105 votes cast

•MISD Place 4: 1,935 votes cast

•City of McKinney overall: 4,091 votes cast

•City of McKinney Place 2: 1,226 votes cast

•City of McKinney Place 4: 2,298 votes cast

At Large candidates are Steve Bell, Jeremiah J. Hammer, Matt Hilton, Johnny Moore and Roger D. Harris. District 2 candidates are Geralyn Kever and Tracy Rath. District 4 representative Ray Ricchi is running for re-election unopposed.

All McKinney voters can choose to vote for an At Large candidate, but only voters in District 2 can choose the District 2 representative. On Election Day, McKinney residents must vote in the precinct where they are registered.

And of course, Saturday is also time to vote yes or no on the much-debated McKinney ISD Bond Election as well as cast your vote for MISD Board of Trustees Place 4. Amy Dankel and incumbent, Dick Stevens are vying for that spot on the MISD School Board.

McKinney voters are invited to hear election results first-hand at Election Night on the Square this Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. The event will be located on Kentucky St. in Historic Downtown McKinney between Louisiana and Virginia and will feature live music, food, face painting and more. Downtown also is the spot for Second Saturdays this weekend, a monthly event showcasing artists, retailers and restaurants. For more information, call 972-547-2660 or visit www.downtownmckinney.com.
