The signs are all over the city. Money Magazine’s ranking of McKinney as the second best place to live in the United States is a point of pride for many of McKinney’s citizens. It’s a significant achievement for everyone in McKinney. Clearly this ranking is something that all the citizens of McKinney should be proud of.
But what does it really mean to you? Is the McKinney portrayed in Money‘s rankings also your McKinney? If you could do it all over again, would you choose McKinney as your place to live?
These are some of the questions we wondered about when we saw the rankings. What does that ranking really mean to the people who live here now? Do they see any tangible impact? So we decided to find out.
TownSquareBuzz.com is pleased to introduce MY McKinney, a yearlong project where we’ll show you what it really means to live in McKinney. During the course of the next 10 months, we’ll introduce you to 10 families living right here in McKinney. You’ll learn about their lives, their history, and what living in McKinney means to them.
Beginning this week, we’ll highlight one family each month. Each family will be featured in an article on the site and we’ll have a video introducing you to them with each one. At the end of the year, we’ll bring a representative of each 10 of the families together and let them discuss how they feel about McKinney and debate its merits. We want to find out what you think about McKinney. Your McKinney. Your perspective. TSB encourages community discussion, debate and opinions with every story. This series, we hope, will encourage that interaction more than ever!
Our aim is to bring you a real representation of McKinney. We’ll visit all sections of McKinney: Eastside, Westside, Northside, Historic McKinney, Craig Ranch, Stonebridge and everywhere in between. We’ll bring you people’s straightforward thoughts about their lives in McKinney. Do they think McKinney is the best place to live? Their answers might surprise you.
Our aim is not to prove or disprove the Money Magazine rankings. They have their methods for making their list and we respect that. Our view of the city could be different than Money Magazine’s view or your personal view. That’s what we’re setting out to find out. We want to know what you think and how you feel.
We want to bring you a true, real representation of what it’s like to be a McKinney resident. Hopefully this series will help you learn more about this city and its people. It’s our pleasure to welcome aboard this journey with us. Together we can find out what McKinney means to each and every one of you.
