Weather permitting, The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close both Preston Road (SH 289) and U.S. 380 at the intersection at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 through 6 a.m. Friday, May 11. This closure is necessary to place beams for the SH 289 bridge over U.S. 380. The overpass is being replaced with a new interchange between the two highways.
Traffic in all directions will be detoured (see attached map). Motorists should expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
Message boards and detour signs have been placed ahead of the closure to notify and guide drivers approaching the project.
Mario Sinacola and Sons, Excavating Inc. is the contractor on this $10.2 million project to replace the SH 289 overpass with an interchange at U.S. 380. The project began in February 2011 and is expected to be complete by early 2013.
TxDOT would like to thank area drivers for their continued patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to complete this vital project as soon, and as safely, as possible.
