TSB sat down recently In the Studio with Pastor Mike Connaway, or just “Pastor Mike” as he is known around McKinney. Connaway and wife Lisa started a church in McKinney, Vlife Church, in 2010. And this year, the couple, along with their adult children, have moved the congregation to the historic church at the corner of Church and Davis Streets, just one block south of the downtown square. The church, which formerly housed the Trinity Presbyterian Church, now on Virginia Parkway in Stonebridge Ranch, had been vacant for 20 years. Connaway said he saw an opportunity and he and his congregation purchased the old church and began renovations.
Connaway, who is from Seattle, says that people here have the same problems as people in Seattle. He shared that the focus of Vlife, which stands for “Vision for Life,” is to reach the unchurched and lead them to be mature followers of Jesus. “Jesus loves and accepts people right where they are and then inspires them to grow in their faith,” Connaway said.
The “new” church will host an open house each Sunday in October. VLife Sunday Worship is held weekly at 10:30 a.m. and Pastor Mike says that the church will begin a Saturday evening service this year.
