“I am very excited to sing at the Smiles Charity Concert because the soldiers benefiting from this years aid have done so much to keep our country safe, and risked their lives to allow me to follow my dreams.” — Hollie Cavanagh
Hollie has always loved music but focused on soccer for the most part of her young life. Then at age 12, a friend asked her to sing a duet in a middle school talent show. That’s when she realized she had a talent. Since that day, singing has been Hollie’s main passion, and she quickly decided her goal was to sing for the rest of her life.
When Hollie entered high school, she worked on finding places to sing. She explored everything from karaoke bars, to larger stages for events like Relay for Life. As Hollie performed more, she became known to audiences as “the little girl with the BIG voice”.
Then, in the summer of 2010 Hollie decided to chase her dream and try out for Fox’s hit show American Idol Season 10. After numerous grueling rounds of auditioning Hollie made it to the Top 40, out of hundreds of thousands of Idol hopefuls. Hollie’s departure from American Idol did not leave her discouraged, but instead hopeful. Idol Judge Jennifer Lopez recommended she come back to the show when she said, ”honestly Hollie you can come back and win … that’s how good you are”.
Today, Hollie is focused on developing her voice and working hard to ensure she reaches her dreams.
