Holiday Trail of Lights at the Heard

Event dates: December 17-19, 6:30-9:30pm

On Thursday, November 3, 2011, volunteers from jcpenney, one of America’s leading retailers, strung thousands of lights and set up other festive decorations at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary in preparation for The Heard’s 3rd Annual Holiday Trail of Lights.

Holiday Trail of Lights, presented by Milestone Electric, is a fun family fundraiser, benefiting the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary.  Admission from this event will help to ensure that The Heard, a nonprofit organization, will be sustained for future generations to enjoy.

This event features thousands of holiday décor and lights—many synchronized to holiday music—along a half mile Heard nature trail. Guests can have a photo taken by the professionals at Clix Photography with Father Christmas and Mother Nature in a festive setting. Also, enjoy hot beverages and treats sold by Coffee N Cream (Saturday & Sunday) and Whole Foods Market (Monday), and a portion of the proceeds will also be donated to The Heard.

Family-friendly entertainment will complement the holiday atmosphere. Listen to live holiday music in the Heard outdoor amphitheater performed by groups such as Tuned In (Saturday), McKinney Community Band (Sunday), and Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church Choir, Orchestra, and Worship Team (Monday).  94.9 KLTY will also broadcast live on December 17th from 6:30-8:30pm. New this year: watch for strolling carolers and entertainers!

Nearly four thousand people enjoyed the event last year! Support the Heard and have fun with the whole family at this holiday fundraiser.  Online tickets are only $7 for adults & seniors and $4 for kids 3-12. Children 2 and under are free. Purchase tickets at the door for $2 more per ticket. Tickets will be available at heardmuseum.org starting December 1st.

Holiday Trail of Lights is presented by Milestone Electric and sponsored by 94.9 KLTY, NBC 5 and McKinney Community Development Corporation.  Hot beverages provided by Coffee N Cream and Whole Foods Market. Photography services provided by Clix Photography. Lighting design provided by Alfresco Living.  Photo op area design provided by Inner Peace Designs.  Vendors will be onsite include Huntington Learning Center and Green Mountain Energy.

About Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary
The Heard was founded in 1967 by Bessie Heard. Miss Heard was 80 years old when she saw the need to preserve a place where future generations could experience nature. Today, the Heard’s mission of bringing nature and people together is carried out through education, particularly of young people, which emphasizes an appreciation of nature and its conservation.  For more information, visit heardmuseum.org.
